Creating New Dreams for 2020

Year 10 - Here We Go!

As 2019 comes roaring to a close in just a few short months, it's amazing to reflect back upon 2010, when Royal Stage began. Back then, we had approximately 20 participants and danced wherever we could find space - high school classrooms, church lobbies, even a racecar garage! Now, heading into our 10th season, we just signed another 5-year lease on our own studio space that we've occupied for the past few years.

Tucked away on a quiet street, we are now able to hold 3 different classes/meetings at the same time, as well as enjoying a private courtyard and parking lot where we hold our annual community outreaches. Last December's was attended by over 800 people and we expect a similar amount of craziness this year! Over and over again, we hear the same thing from our core girls & women who participate in Royal Stage - "this is my safe place."

Mission accomplished, dream realized. And yet still so much to do. Become a part of our 2020 Vision Project.

One For All

Royal Stage participants are a tapestry of diversity in age, life experience, and faith. From our pre-ballet students that begin exploring dance at age 2, to the baby boomers acting in our plays, our studio carries a vibe that falls somewhere between a family reunion and church gathering each week. We pray for one another, cry and laugh together, and create alongside each other in a way where everyone shines.

God's love was visible in our summer arts camp sessions where kids came to know Jesus over watercolors and peanut butter sandwiches. His hand consistently calms our participants who struggle with autism and processing disorders. His presence is felt by the abuse survivors that regain their self-worth through an evening dance class. His grace was apparent through some crazy musical theater rehearsals where we thought we were going to completely lose it in front of our very rambunctious cast of 50 young people. His fingerprints are everywhere, and it's one of our favorite places to be. It's creative here. It's loud here. It's healing here. Become a part of our 2020 Vision Project.

NEW DREAMS

Here are the things happening at Royal Stage during 2020:

Royal Stage Los Angeles (RSLA) - One of our staff members recently moved to Southern CA and has a heart to head up a secondary Royal Stage chapter there. We look forward to the chance to hear some Hollywood dreams and introduce them to an Audience of One as we partner with Magnolia Street Methodist Church in Burbank! This wonderful body of Christ has donated rehearsal and performance space to us. RSLA is happening!

Nobility Market - In December we are launching an online marketplace featuring the craftsmanship of women who are abuse survivors and/or are committed to helping girls find their worth through the creative arts. With each purchase, local level creativity is supported, as well as Royal Stage’s continual scholarship program.

Continued dance ministry in Haiti - We have traveled to Haiti twice to teach dance to children and provide a healthy outlet in a region plagued by violence & an unpredicatable government. We have a team eager to return. One of our staff members, Salsa Lopez, also continues to work on the ground in Haiti, teaching dance to the girls and working with the village children.

A centralized performance space - We desire to be a light to the city of Sacramento with an affordable venue option that will allow the Christian arts to be a free live performance experience to low-income families. Tickets are free, and each one includes the ultimate free gift of the gospel.

2019 highlights

DANCE - over 300 people participated in classes & outreaches. 45% were low-income and received a full scholarship. Many participants are also abuse survivors.

THEATER - Cinderella, Matilda the Musical, A Christmas Carol & 12 Daze of Christmas (coming this December) ...all with a gospel message attached, shared with approximately 2300 audience members. Our theater program is now equal to our dance program in size and impact!

ART - 3 cheers for regular visual art classes now being offered at the studio! We have reached beyond dance and theater, and now are tapping in to the visually creative side of our participants.

OUTREACH - 24 pro-bono counseling sessions, 12 transportation donations, 30+ meals/bags of groceries served. We just placed a new group of young women with counselors, and our leadership team is in the development stages of a food closet for our participants.
